What We Do


The method of dividing water, gas and electricity accounts in multiple apartments, units and commercial properties where there is only the one main utility meter is a very unfair and inequitous way to make the consumer pay. In general it does not reflect in any way the real usage patterns of individual users. 

Our business is to install “sub meters” (or to utilise those meters already installed) to measure the water, gas and electricity usage of individual property owners, to read the meters and create accurate, user friendly individual accounts based on the private meter readings - thereby ensuring that customers pay only for the services that they use.

About Us


Strata Water Solutions was established in 1995 in response to a change in the water rating system in South Australia. The “user pays” system created anomalies in the Strata Title unit environment where owners received an account based on a “shared meter” and total water usage was apportioned on an arbitrary basis generally equally or by unit entitlement.  The inequities in this method of charging were apparent to the three original business partners, all of whom had lengthy careers with SA Water.

Sub meters are installed in most suburbs in the metropolitan area, in shopping centres, in new community developments, in lifestyle villages and in regional South Australia – Roxby Downs, Whyalla, Robe, Port Augusta, and Eyre Peninsula. They are read manually and electronically. They include mains water, electricity, hot water (gas) and recycled water meters.  Strata Water Solutions receives very good support from SA Water, Corporation Managers and Developers.

The continuing emphasis on water restrictions, management of scarce resources and rapidly increasing water and electricity charges have contributed significantly to the recent expansion of the business.  We now provide the following services:

     - installation of water meters, particularly to Strata and Community Corporations
     - water and electricity meter reading
     - account billing to individual property owners
